About Rolling Slabs

Rolling slabs (also called rolling ingots) are large rectangular castings that hot-rolling mills reduce into plate, sheet and coil. They are the starting point for the flat-rolled aluminum used in packaging, transport and construction.

Slabs are specified by alloy, dimensions and weight, and by whether the surfaces have been scalped. These terms are aligned with the buyer’s mill before any offer is issued.

Typical applications

  • Hot rolling into plate, sheet and coil
  • Packaging, transport and building products
  • Foil stock production
